IMRU Radio is the nation’s longest running LGBTQI Radio program. It airs in Market 2 in Los Angels on KPFK 90.7 FM, the strongest signal west of the Mississippi, Monday nights at 7 pm PST. IMRU Radio has been broadcasting continuously since 1974. Following a magazine format, IMRU Radio covers News, Politics, Entertainment, and more. If there is an event that has originated within or has affected the LGBTQI communities, chances are IMRU Radio has covered it!

Getting Involved

When California’s Prop 8 passed in 2008, I felt a calling to return to radio broadcast journalism. I knew I had to do something to change hearts and minds to create equality for all people. The team producing IMRU Radio had just experienced a shake up and I was presented with the opportunity to inject my special flavor into the production.

Flash forward to the present, I am currently the active Board Chair of IMRU Media, the umbrella Non-Profit overseeing IMRU Radio and creating additional media to amplify the voices of all LGBTQI people as we continue our journey to full legal and social equality. As a 501(c)(3) organization, our goal is to involve people, organizations, institutions, and foundations to help us achieve our goals.

Universal Appeal

At IMRU Radio and Media, we recognize that we are more similar with more common values and goals than some would like us to believe. The LGBTQI tribe includes all races, religions, colors, nationalities, creeds, socio-economic strata, levels of education, political affiliations, or any other self-defining criteria. We are one. We believe this.

People often have trouble remembering the IMRU acronym. I like to explain that it is a statement and a question. So if I were to tell you, there is coalition of people eager to make the world a better place for all of us, and I ask you, “Are you ready to join?” Your reply could be, “I am. Are You?”

Take a Listen

I invite you to check out some video clips of our broadcast from over the years. I created these to help share our radio broadcast on more visual platforms. These clips will give you an idea of how forward thinking we are as a broadcast and how we keep an eye on our history to prevent us from repeating it.

I also invite you to listen to the latest episode of the Podcast version of the IMRU Radio weekly FM broadcast.
